Hello August
August often brings a shift in rhythm. With school holidays, travel, weddings, and outdoor celebrations, the pace of life changes. For some, this time of year offers ease, freedom, and connection. For others, it can feel overstimulating, emotionally complex, or even lonely.
You might find yourself saying yes to more social events, spending more time outside, or juggling the expectations of others. Amidst all of this, we gently invite you to check in with your social battery.

Have you had enough time for yourself?
-
Do you need a pause, some quiet, or a small moment of care?
-
Could a little “me-time” help you feel more balanced?
This season may ask more of you but it also offers space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.
Whatever August brings your way, remember that you are allowed to rest. You are allowed to set boundaries. You are allowed to choose what you need.
"Can I still have therapy during the summer holidays?"
Yes, you can. The Surrey Centre remains open throughout August. Many of our therapists are continuing to offer in-person and remote sessions. If you’re going away or adjusting your schedule, speak to your therapist about options to stay connected and supported.
If you're considering starting therapy, this can be a meaningful time to begin. We welcome new enquiries and would be happy to help you explore the right support for your needs. Please feel free to get in touch with our team to arrange an initial conversation.

This episode is a valuable listen for anyone reflecting on how emotional and physical health are deeply connected.

Make space for one mindful pause each day
Choose a small, intentional act that brings you back to yourself. This might be:
-
Sitting in the garden or park with no phone for five minutes
-
Taking a few deep breaths in the shade before a busy day
-
Saying no to one plan and choosing rest instead
-
Journaling a few words before bed to check in with your thoughts
Let this moment be just for you. Not productive, not perfect. Simply nourishing.
A Closing Thought
You do not need to earn rest. You are allowed to care for yourself, even in the midst of busy days.
This August, listen to your body. Take a breath. Step away when you need to. Say yes to a quiet moment.
You might like to carry this affirmation with you as a gentle reminder:
“I give myself permission to pause. Rest is not a reward. It is a need I am allowed to honour.”
