There may be a voice inside that says you’re not quite enough. Or too much. Or not really known by anyone at all.
You might find yourself people-pleasing, overachieving, hiding, comparing, shrinking, or endlessly questioning who you’re meant to be.

These struggles often begin quietly – shaped by early experiences, unspoken expectations, or relationships where you learned to become what others needed you to be. Over time, that shaping can leave you feeling unsure of where you begin.

At The Surrey Centre, we hold space for those tender places – the parts of you that long to be seen, accepted, and reconnected to your deeper self.

How do I begin therapy at The Surrey Centre?

It starts with a simple phone call or message to arrange an initial conversation. From there, we’ll offer you a time for an assessment session, which is your opportunity to speak about what’s bringing you here and to explore whether we feel like the right fit.

This first session is also a space to think about what kind of support might help — whether that’s one-to-one therapy, family work, or another form of care we offer. There’s no pressure or commitment — just the beginning of a conversation, gently held.

Do I need a referral from a GP?

No – you can self-refer. If you are a professional or family member referring on someone’s behalf, we ask that you obtain their consent first.

What happens in the first session?

In your first session (typically 55 or 90 minutes depending on service), your therapist will talk with you about what you’re experiencing, what you hope for, and whether therapy with us feels right. There’s no pressure to commit – it’s simply a space to explore.

Are sessions in-person or online?

We offer both. In-person sessions take place at our centres in Headley, Bath and Chepstow. Online sessions are also available for those who prefer them.

Where are you based? Is there parking?

We have therapy rooms in Headley (Surrey), Bath, and Chepstow. All sites have free on-site parking or nearby parking options. Once your appointment is confirmed, we’ll send details specific to your chosen location, including access info and directions.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer one-to-one psychotherapy, counselling, Jungian Analysis, couples therapy, family consultations, and group therapy. Our approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from a broad range of modalities – including psychodynamic, person-centred, Jungian analytic, humanistic, pluralistic, and more.

At the heart of all our work is relationship – the healing connection between client and therapist. We believe that it’s within this safe, attuned relationship that real change becomes possible.

What’s the difference between counselling, psychotherapy, and Jungian Analysis?

All three offer a space for reflection, healing and change. A space to explore what’s happening in your life, in confidence and without judgement. The difference is often in depth, pace, purpose and duration.

  • Counselling tends to be shorter-term and may focus on a specific issue, decision, life event or emotional challenges.
  • Psychotherapy often involves longer-term work, exploring deeper patterns, early experiences, and the unconscious dynamics that shape how you relate to yourself and others
  • Jungian Analysis is often a long-tern process

focused on bringing unconscious aspects of your psyche into a more balanced relationship with your conscious awareness and lived experience. This deep exploration can help you discover meaning, understand the roots of issues such as anxiety or depression, support the maturation of your personality, and foster a stronger sense of alignment with your inner spirit. At its core, this is soul work – a deep inner unfolding that supports lasting transformation.

At The Surrey Centre, these approaches are available, and often overlap. We’ll help you decide what feels most appropriate based on your needs and preferences. Whatever the approach, the core of the work is the same: a safe, steady relationship where change can begin.

How long does counselling, therapy, or analysis last?

We offer open-ended therapy. You’re not expected to know how long you’ll need – this will be something you and your therapist reflect on together, at your pace.

  • Counselling – often short-term and focused
  • Psychotherapy – can be short or long-term depending on your needs
  • Jungian analysis – long-term and open-ended, with sessions held more frequently

How often are sessions?

Sessions are usually held weekly, unless otherwise agreed. This helps build the trust, safety, and continuity that are central to the work.

For those undertaking Jungian analysis, sessions may take place more frequently – often between 1 to 4 times per week, depending on your needs, capacity, and the depth of work you wish to explore.

This will always be something you and your therapist reflect on together, and you’ll be supported in finding a rhythm that feels right for you.

Do you offer low-cost therapy?

Yes. We offer reduced-fee sessions through a limited number of places with qualified therapists, and additional lower-cost options with carefully selected trainees (from £45 per session). More info is available on our Fees page.

You can end therapy at any time. We ask for four weeks’ notice to allow for a thoughtful, supported ending.
