At The Surrey Centre, we highly value the collaborative relationships we have with fellow professionals who refer individuals to our service. Whether you are a GP, counsellor, psychotherapist, dietitian, or work within an educational setting, your insight and involvement are crucial in supporting your client’s journey towards recovery.
We welcome referrals for individuals of all ages who are experiencing emotional, psychological, or relational challenges.

GPs
We regularly receive referrals from GPs who have identified concerns regarding a patient’s mental and emotional well-being. Referrals can be sent to us via email or letter. With the patient’s consent, we are happy to keep you informed of their progress.
Counsellors and Psychotherapists
If you are already supporting someone therapeutically but feel they may benefit from more specialist support, you can refer them to us. Our team can offer additional care while maintaining clear communication with you, where appropriate and with client consent.
Educational Professionals
We also work with schools, colleges, and universities to support students experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties. Referrals can be made with parental or guardian consent for those under 18. Our team is experienced in working alongside pastoral, safeguarding, and counselling departments to ensure appropriate care is in place.
Any Professional
We welcome referrals from any professional who is concerned about an individual’s well-being. This includes employers, HR professionals, occupational health providers, and community leaders. If you believe someone in your care or workplace would benefit from specialist support, you are encouraged to refer them with their consent. We can work alongside you to ensure they receive the appropriate care while respecting confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Initial Contact
You can contact us directly by phone or email to refer your client. We ask for some initial information about the client and the nature of your concerns. We also encourage that your client be informed and gives their consent for the referral.
Assessment
Once the referral is received, we will:
- Reach out to the client directly to offer an initial conversation.
- Arrange an assessment with a therapist depending on their needs.
- Confirm all details by email, including who they will be seeing and when.
Ongoing Communication
With the client’s written consent, we are happy to:
- Share updates with you regarding their engagement and progress.
- Liaise with you to ensure our work complements any ongoing support you are offering.
- Discuss discharge planning or transitions where appropriate.
We believe in a team-based, holistic approach to care. By working together, we can ensure the individual receives the right support, at the right time.
If you are a professional wishing to refer someone to The Surrey Centre or discuss a potential referral, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are here to collaborate with you in offering thoughtful, specialist care.
(Please note: while we specialise in emotional and psychological wellbeing, specialist eating disorder support is offered through our dedicated centre at The Surrey Centre for Eating Disorders.)
